The £2.4bn regeneration of the Aylesbury estate at Elephant and Castle in Southwark, south London, has been the given the thumbs-up by the government’s planning inspector following an examination in public last month

The regeneration includes this scheme by housing association L&Q. Last week, the council approved the rehousing of 500 residents in the first phase of the PFI programme. The estate sits on 28.5 hectares and is home to more than 7,500 people.
