Scheme in Cardiff is for developer Cambrian Holst

Vinci has been awarded a £22.1m contract to build a student accommodation block and a fire station in central Cardiff.

The joint contract from developer Cambrian Holst comprises a £19.8m deal for new build student accommodation and a £2.3m deal for a fire station. Vinci said the two projects would run in tandem and would involve working in partnership with architect Morgan 2 Hayman as well as structural engineer Jubb Consulting.

The student accommodation will be divided into two sections, with the first comprising 107 en-suite bedrooms, 40 studios and one disabled bedroom, and the other section including 274 en-suite bedrooms, 117 studios and one flat.

The fire station will involve the design and build of a new station with three fire appliance bays and ancillary accommodation, the company said.
