Glazed facade system
Architectural aluminium glazing systems from Technal have been specified by RCKa Architects for a new Technology Centre for De La Rue - the world’s largest integrated commercial bank note printer. The scheme comprises an extensive refurbishment of an existing eighties office building to house the new research facility, as well as a wing to accommodate a series of secure laboratories. Fabricated and installed by ADP Aluminium Systems, Technal’s GEODE-MX62 curtain walling, FXi65 casement windows and CD commercial doors were specified for both the new wing and the refurbished building.

Cedral Weatherboard cladding
Marley Eternit has announced a number of changes to the Cedral Weatherboard range to bring them more in line with consumer demands. Changes to this product, now called Cedral Board, include being made available in new sizes: 2500 x 200/300/400mm. The company says the new Cedral Board offers a complete Cedral system solution including complementary trims, fascia and soffit boards in an inspirational, up to date, colour palette. A total of eight new colours are available and they are presented in Earth, Mineral, Ocean and Forest colour families.

Facade paint
Knauf has launched Fassadol TSR, a facade paint which allows dark colours to be used on externally insulated walls. The TSR (Total Solar Reflectance) is siloxane-reinforced pure acrylic facade paint with a satin-matt appearance. The company says that by developing this new breed of paint, they can offer architects and builders a much wider palate of colours to choose from. Fassadol TSR can be applied with a brush, roller or spray and requires two coats. It has been formulated to control and inhibit the growth of algae and fungi.

Architectural facade system
Facade manufacturer Permasteelisa Group has launched the D3 Facade Dual System. The new D3 facade has evolved from the MFreeS facade, and is a three-layer facade featuring two closed cavities. The D3 architectural facade constitutes three layers of single-coated glass that create two completely closed cavities where a shading system with aluminium and wooden louvers is placed. The company says the two motor-operated blinds used on the D3 System will offer a broader scope for the architectural facade design and will open up entirely new creative possibilities for architects.

Cast stone cladding
Forticrete has been specified to supply its high performance cast stone blocks in its Portland colour for the construction of Sundridge Park, a new multi-million pound development of luxury properties near Bromley in Kent. The site will comprise three detached homes, 13 three-storey townhouses and 25 two- and three-bedroom, three-storey apartments. The company says its structural items, including decorative window heads, had been specified to further enhance the quality, character and aesthetic appeal of the luxury homes.

Composite cladding
Prater has designed and installed facade and roofing packages for a number of the airside and landside ancillary buildings as part of Heathrow Airport’s T2A development. Prater delivered a comprehensive range of facade packages including bespoke roof systems, a wide range of Trimo composite cladding for walls, curtain walling, soffits, rooflights, safety handrails and weather louvres. Prater’s work on the ancillary buildings at Heathrow’s Terminal 2A development follows on from the company’s previous involvement with phase one and two of Heathrow T2B’s departures lounge and Heathrow T5.

Cedar cladding
Cedar cladding from Caddick Construction has been installed as part of extensive conversion works at the Regatta Group’s head office. The company says their cladding was chosen as it’s renewable and the company has been accredited with the environmental management certificate IS04 14001. The project involves converting Regatta’s existing industrial warehouse in Urmston into a corporate head office facility, with completion expected by March 2015.
