Learning and Skills Council capital grants 2002/3
This year, capital grants totalling more than £240m have been allocated to five main development categories. As a rule, LSC grants amount to 35% of total development costs, with top-up funding coming from local authorities’ single regeneration budgets, regional development agencies, sale of property and private sources.
Further education colleges	£78m
Institutions for 16- to 19-year-olds, including sixth-form colleges	£40m
Adult and community learning institutes	£16m
Centres of vocational excellence	£100m over two years towards the creation of 400 COVEs at further education colleges
Disability discrimination and special educational needs compliance	£23.3m, with maximum grant of £125,000
