New academy launched to promote collaboration using building information modelling

Ryder Architecture and Northumbria University have teamed up to launch an academy to promote best practice in BIM.

Called the BIM Academy it will undertake research, consultancy, education and promote integrated project delivery. Mark Thompson, the managing director said the firm invested in BIM six years ago because it could see the improvements it could bring to the design quality and the delivery of projects and now wanted to share this with the industry.

The BIM Academy will be led by Ryder’s operations director Peter Barker who would work alongside Steve Lockley, the professor of building modelling at Northumbria University.
