The proposals to review Building Regulations regularly every six years looks like a throwback to the seventies to me (I am a former building control officer).

When approved documents replaced statutory instruments we were told that this would allow greater flexibility and responsiveness, since changes could be brought in without reference to the parliamentary timetable and the documents themselves could be written in clear English, not legalese. If a problem shows up at the start of 2011 are we really going to wait until 2013 before doing anything about it?
