Building’s leader returns to the OFT enquiry (15 August, page 3). I’m sorry to have to return to the simple suggestion I made regarding cover pricing.

As you say, the practice itself is intended only to create a little innocent self-deception between tenderer and client. It has existed for at least 50 years and will no doubt exist in another 50 years.

I offered the simple suggestion that the OFT set up a regulatory system to ensure that cover pricing is not a cover for more sinister practices. Why cannot Building promote this, instead of wringing out sympathy for contractors who have been caught red-handed?
