I write in response to the letter from Michael Brown of the CIOB (23 March).
Quantity surveying skills are much more widely used internationally than he realises. His suggestion that partnering, supply chain management, integrated teams and trust all somehow obviate the need for traditional QSs shows naivety and ignorance of the role QSs play in today’s industry.
Since he represents the views of his institution, if I was one of the thousands of QSs who are CIOB members, I might seriously reconsider my next subscription renewal.
