I read with interest the article titled “Supervillains”. As a building contractor, I have had numerous problems with utilities companies and can sympathise with Andrew Gill over the problems he had with Anglian Water.

However, there is another side to Anglian Water. I am a very keen trout fly-fisherman and have fished the its reservoirs for more than 25 years. About five years ago, my fishing club had a few problems with AW. David Moore, the recreation manager for the company, invited invited representatives from most of the fly-fishing clubs that used the reservoirs to attend a meeting with him and his staff. The result was that we benchmark AW on an annual basis and its service and customer care has improved beyond all recognition. This has come about by meeting and co-operation.

It’s a shame that the supply side of AW cannot take a leaf out of the recreation department’s book. This also applies to all other utilities. The frustration we all continue to suffer is intolerable.
