I always read with interest your articles bemoaning the lack of women in the industry. Like Helen Sanders (26 November, page 36), I don’t always agree with this philosophy.

Setting my rather cynical opinion aside and working under the assumption that construction does need more women to help fill the skills gap, please would you explain why your sales department accepts job advertisements, with “headlines” such as the following, all of which are to be found in the 26 November issue:

“Which side would sir like to dress?”

“Got the ‘balls’ to work for us?”

“Tick the boxes if you think you’re hard enough”.

I can’t imagine what type of woman would want to apply to the companies concerned.
