In regard to your recent article on Ascot (17 November, pages 28-30), the original royal enclosure lawn was 2m above the racetrack.

The grandstand (pictured) should have been built 2m higher at ground level.

The royal enclosure is at most 25% of the size of the original. The royal enclosure lawn as-built is not 1:20, neither is the gradient in any regulations for disabled people.

My advice is to pull it down and start again but I don’t think they will. On a positive note, the roof only leaks when it rains.
