Regarding the story “Lend Lease bans Bovis from £40bn nuclear sector” (11 June, page 9): how can another country have the right to influence what this country wants to do?

We need the power - we are not so lucky as Australia to have as much free space to erect wind farms, and so on.

Does anyone have any thoughts on their desalination plant, which will need so much power to run it could be uneconomic? But then they need the water for their parched land - like we need the energy from nuclear power to survive.
