The Scottish government’s recent consolidation of 17 planning policies into one document is to be commended

Having the right planning advice and information in one place helps to ensure that planning is an aid, not a barrier, to economic development, and our continued advice to communities ensures they are fully equipped to shape and influence the changes that affect their areas.

What is required is the financial support to ensure that all communities, whether rural or urban, know how they can influence their environment through the planning system.
