Acoustics within schools remains widely overlooked, despite the introduction of BB93, the government standards for the acoustic design of schools. This needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency

There are simple measures that make it relatively easy to improve the listening conditions within classrooms. First, a commonsense approach to designing the layout of a school.

Acoustic wall panels and coverings can help to reduce the echo within a space, improving the clarity of speech and enabling students to hear the lessons, as well as saving teachers’ voices. Sound should not be a barrier to learning.
