I read with interest the article about BT’s encouraging more working from home (11 May, page 54).

As a medium-sized housebuilder we would commend this idea, from the point of view of both our staff and our customers; in the latter case, for example, by providing more BT points around the home or even in some cases complete home networking systems within the property.

Unfortunately, in our experience, one of the problems with this lies with BT itself – and its provision of new services to our developments. In one – admittedly extreme – example, it has so far taken BT nearly nine months not to supply a development in Tunbridge Wells with services. This has caused inconvenience to our business and our customers, several of whom would indeed like to be working from their homes.
