To meet targets in the housing green paper for increasing the UK’s housing supply, modern methods of construction (MMC) will have to be considered on a wider scale.

We need more contractors, developers and clients to move out of the comfort zone generated by a last-minute tendering process. They need to select the right MMC partners who will deliver long-term value.

And the biggest culprits of encouraging short-term procurement strategies? The government! So if Yvette Cooper really wants us to build three million homes in the next 13 years, she has to find ways of moving clients away from the nonsense of lowest initial cost, which has never delivered the best value.
