Early in 2006 we had a crane collapse on one of our London projects.

Fortunately there was no injury and damage was limited to material and time costs. Our own thorough investigations (the Health and Safety Executive didn’t even attend the site) highlighted serious failings, which led to a group-wide ban on that particular crane hire firm – the same firm whose machines later failed in Battersea and Liverpool, with such serious consequences.

We fully support your campaign (page 38). The standard currently available from the crane hire industry just isn’t good enough.
