The neat substitution of “USA” for “UK” in a quote attributed to me (“Architect quits over troubled Nato project”, 10 September, page 10) certainly makes for more titillating and incendiary copy than the facts.

In response to the question “Who will replace Mr Oltmanns at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill?”, the quote should have read “We are working on many large-scale, mixed-use schemes in the UK so we need to get the right skills in the right place”.

In fact, we are working on a dozen large-scale, mixed-use schemes for clients in London and within the European Union. Consequently, the need for additional partnership resources is greater in London now than at any time during the past several years.

We intend to address this matter by involving more partners in the work of the London office, not fewer as implied in your report.
