I was employed by a private housebuilder, originally as a trainee QS, and was being paid to attend university to study a quantity surveying degree, on a day-release basis.

However, in March my employer made me redundant. It has been a huge struggle to find a new position, although thankfully I have now found one. It’s not just graduates who are facing difficulties finding a job. People who have been sponsored by companies to train and qualify are also facing the harsh conditions of redundancy and job hunting.
