Designer of the Olympic Park’s Orbit sculpture was suffering from a brain tumour
The architect behind the Orbit sculpture in the Olympic Park, Kathryn Findlay, has died aged 60.
Building’s sister title, Building Design reports that the Scottish-born architect was suffering from a brain tumour.
Findlay founded Ushida Findlay in Japan in 1986 with her then husband Eisaku Ushida and was the first female academic in the department of architecture at Tokyo University.
Her best-known works included the Truss Wall House and Soft and Hairy House, both in Tokyo, and Poolhouses 1 and 2 in the UK.
