Ian Tyler to succeed Malcolm Harris in non-executive role

Ex-Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler has been appointed chairman of Bovis Homes.

Tyler will take up the non-executive role at the housebuilder from later this month.

Bovis Homes has been searching for a new chairman ever since Malcolm Harris announced his retirement in February.

Tyler stepped down from his role at the head of Balfour Beatty in a surprise move in March this year. He had been in charge of the firm for eight years and presided over it as it trebled in size.

Alastair Lyons, non-executive deputy chairman of Bovis Homes, said he was “delighted to welcome someone of Ian’s commercial experience and understanding of construction and infrastructure to our board”.

Tyler said: “I am both honoured and excited to be taking over from Malcolm Harris as chair.  Bovis Homes is a great company and I’m looking forward to working with David, his management team and the board.”

Tyler is also currently non-executive director of BAE systems, Cable & Wireless and Cairn Energy. He is also non-executive chair of the Al Noor Hospitals Group.
