Architect wins competition to design sustainable masterplan in South Korea

Foster + Partners has won a competition to design a sustainable masterplan in South Korea, together with PHA and Mobility in Chain.

The 300km2 mixed-use scheme to the north-west of Seoul will see the Incheon Free Economic Zone expanded to serve a projected 320,000 residents and commuters. The project, which encompasses the islands of KangHwa and OnJin-gun, aims to create a centre for green industry and a self-sufficient community.

Construction will be phased over 10 to 15 years.
