Bridge will link two parts of £135m regeneration scheme

The final designs for a new footbridge to link two parts of a £135m regeneration scheme in Swansea being built by Buckingham have been revealed.

The 49m-long bridge over the city’s Oystermouth Road will connect the first and second phases of the Swansea Central regeneration project.

Designed by local artist Marc Rees and architect Acme, the bridge is designed to resemble the shape of a swan and will include colour-changing LED lights. It will link the city centre with Swansea Bay.

Due to open in autumn 2021, the first phase of the regeneration project will include a 3,500-capacity indoor arena, coastal park, commercial units and more than 30 homes.

The second phase will include a business school, office space, housing and shops.
