Notes: 1Type 4e consists of a hybrid smoke and heat detection system. The building fire alarm system will consist of smoke detectors in the common areas, with heat detectors in all rooms of residential flats. These detectors will operate alarms in all areas of the building. Local smoke detectors within each flat are provided in the sleeping areas to afford early warning to occupants in the residential unit of fire origin only. Also includes manual fire alarm system.
2Type 7e is similar to the above, where sprinklers are provided in lieu of heat detectors within the flats. The common spaces are protected with sprinklers and smoke detectors. Also includes manual fire alarm system.
3Provided travel distances are within the limitations outlined in the guidance.
4This is required to be part of a fire-fighting shaft due to the height of the building.
