BDS Fire & Security has upgraded the huge fire detection system within Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.
The NIA is one of the busiest large-scale indoor sporting and entertainment venues in Europe. More than four million visitors have passed through its doors since its opening in 1991.
Advanced Electronics’ intelligent control panels are at the heart of the new installation.
The system consists of six Advanced Mx-4400 networked fire control panels, interfaced to more than 1000 Apollo Discovery loop devices, including fire sensors, call points and input/output sources.
It also uses networked repeater panels and Advanced’s PC-NeT Graphics software. The cause-and-effect programming in the Mx-4400 panels was used to control more than 100 loop-driven I/O devices interfaced to automatic smoke doors, extract fans, catering gas valves and access control doors.
