Future forecast: October – December 2021

Work expectations by specialism over the next three months (3)

The latest quarterly sentiment survey by Building Boardroom finds retail enjoying a big confidence boost but housing has gone off the boil. Meanwhile, engineers and cost consultants’ workload expectations are markedly up, but project managers and contractors’ optimism is decreasing

How do different industry specialisms feel about work prospects across key sectors now and in three months’ time? Building Boardroom’s future forecast seeks to provide the answer with a regular, three-monthly survey that will enable you to track how well the industry is doing over time.

Our survey asks those working in the key industry specialisms, including architects, engineers, cost consultants, project managers, contractors and specialist contractors, about their expectations for future workloads, their hiring intentions and how they see fee levels changing. The survey covers all sizes of business, ranging from those with a handful of staff up to the biggest industry players with more than 1,000 employees, from all corners of the UK.
