From 1 April, all applicants for HVCA membership will have to pass the Association’s new independent inspection and assessment regime.
All existing HVCA members are undergoing an administrative audit as part of the introduction of the scheme and must undergo the same process as new entrants within three years.

Speaking at the official launch of the new regime, Robert Higgs, HVCA director, described it as “the most exciting development in the 99-year history of the Association.”

Certification body B M Trada will carry out the third-party audits. The move was welcomed by construction minister Brian Wilson: “This will set the HVCA apart – a membership that you have to earn rather than just pay for.”

The inspection and assessment regime has two elements to it: commercial capability and technical competence. Assessments will be repeated every three years.
