Improving the performance of existing buildings is a big hurdle when it comes to tackling sustainability.
Historically, the property sector has proved hard to influence. However, a new guide and web-based tool has been launched to help occupiers, landlords and agents address sustainability in buildings.
Occupying Buildings Sustainably consists of three guides (Occupier Action Plans; Sustainable Procurement for Building Occupiers; and Engagement Plans). They provide an introduction to property sustainability, guidance on good practice, illustrative case studies and a step-by-step walk through of Managing and Occupying Buildings Sustainably (MOBS) Online - the web-based tool.
MOBS Online is the key to getting the most out of the guides. It includes a database of more than 450 good practice sustainability measures applicable to a range of building types, and can be used to produce an outline document to help users undertake property-related activities such as procurement and refurbishment, more sustainably.
For copies of the OBS guides and access to MOBS Online, log on to www.mobs.org.uk.
