A roof-mounted “topdown” ventilation system, using external louvres linked to internal turning vanes, has been installed at the new St Joseph’s College Primary Centre in Ipswich.

The bespoke Monodraught Windcatcher natural ventilation system is designed to catch the wind from any direction. The air is controlled using a damper system fitted to the base of the unit and warm internal air is expelled in the same way. The architect, Wincer Kievenaar, used organic forms, natural light and bright colours to instil a sense of fun.
