Football club looks set to abandon Goodison Park for a 50,000-seat stadium in Kirkby

Everton Football Club is set to sign a deal that will see the construction of a new stadium four miles from its existing Goodison ground.

According to the Liverpool Echo, a preliminary deal between Everton, Knowsley council and supermarket giant Tesco will be announced at the club’s AGM this evening.

If the move goes ahead, it will result in the building of a 50,000-plus capacity stadium and a multimillion-pound regeneration of Kirkby, the proposed location. It is understood that the cost of regenerating the existing Goodison ground, although discussed, was considered too high to be feasible.
