Octavian Security’s managing director Sukhi Ghuman has developed a unique TRAINING programme for the company’s dedicated band of retail security officers that is designed to ensure they “think more like customers”.

The two-day training schedule aims to better prepare Octavian officers by concentrating on developing their basic retail skills (such as how to deal with a customer enquiry and understanding the brand values of the retailer for whom they are working). The course also involves a significant amount of role play concentrating on customer interaction scenarios.

“Each of our officers working in a retail security guarding position – be it in a High Street fashion store or a supermarket – comes into an enormous amount of contact with customers,” said Ghuman. “Therefore, they represent a great opportunity for further brand delivery from the retailer to the customer. They can play a greater role in helping the retail team with whom they’re working.”
