Vitraseal the Derbyshire based sealed unit manufacturers has extended its processing capability of soft coat low-e and solar control products following the installation of additional machinery from Hegla. The machinery has enabled Vitraseal to offer soft coat annealed and laminated products as part of their standard high volume product range.
It was decided investment had to be made in the area of glass cutting not only for the firm's insulating glass lines but to be in a strong position for future developments of legislation within the industry.

Vitraseal, who has made sealed units for over 30 years, already had in line gas filling and chose Hegla to supply the cutting solution due to the machinery expert's many years experience of handling and cutting of soft coated products and its flexible approach to factory solutions.

The installation included an automatic mobile double sided loader and automatic glass positioning, Optimax shape cutting with edge deletion and VSG37 for laminated glass cutting. Programme options within the Optimax allow for cutting only, cutting and edge deletion and edge deletion only which can be used in conjunction with the VSG37. Also supplied were a KPL compact storage racking system for 3 x 2 packs of glass, a unique free fall system for patterned glass and suction lifting equipment.

Vitraseal commented 'The installation has allowed us to increase and improve glass cutting output and to offer soft coated monolithic and laminated glass within acceptable lead times'.
