There should be a more integrated approach to the academic and vocational training process, or at the very least placement years should be compulsory on all construction-related courses.

As for the ‘demise’ of the construction degree, I feel very strongly that the only way forward is to have more common core subjects, with specialisms only in the final year. Let’s face it: you have to start training a graduate from scratch anyway.
