Virtual NewcastleGateshead is an accurate three-dimensional computer model of both north-east townscapes, produced as a collaboration between Northumbria University and Newcastle and Gateshead councils.

Using aerial photography and digital modelling, staff at the university’s Built Environment Visualisation Centre have created an accurate replica of the urban townscape. The virtual model will allow access by both Newcastle and Gateshead council officers, through secure remote access, and is intended to transform the way urban designers and town planners manage and evaluate development proposals.
