Olympic Village subcontractor is in voluntary liquidation

All 26 staff were made redundant at Olympics subcontractor United AG in the weeks prior to it going under, its liquidator FRP Advisory has confirmed.

The Essex-based windows and doors specialist – which was working on the troubled final phase of the Olympic athletes’ village for main contractor Galliford Try – went into voluntary liquidation on the 28th October.

The firm was the latest contractor to go under whilst working on various parts of the Athletes Village, after Parry Bowen, P Elliott and Trent Concrete.

In February, the Olympic Delivery Authority said the overall cost of the village had gone up £11m to £709m, mainly due to the cost of paying for continued supply from companies that had gone bust.
