What has been the hardest challenge you have faced to get to where you are now?

I’ve had to move around to gain experience so the biggest challenge has been leaving people I’ve enjoyed working with.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

As long as I’m still challenged, enjoying what I’m doing and strongly contributing to making engineering a profession that is valued and fun to work in I don’t mind.

Where do you see the construction industry going in the next year, three years and decade?

The construction industry will change. Depending where you are in the world the pace of change will be driven by the economic landscape and the need to address our impact on the environment.

What has been your career high point so far?

There have been many, but I get a real buzz when we win great contracts and I’m fortunate there have been a few over the years.

And the low point?

I honestly don’t think like that. I look for the positives in everything.

Who is your hero?

Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

If you could take one thing with you to a desert island, what would it be?

My iPad, I’m assuming the island has a wireless connection!
