Seven engineering consultants named for International Quarter development

Seven engineering consultants have been appointed to the design panel for Stratford City’s new £1.3bn business and residential district.

Developers Lend Lease and London & Continental Railways said BDP Environmental Engineering, Foreman Roberts, Grontmij, and Hoare Lea would be providing building services to the panel.

Structural services for the new development, known as the International Quarter, will be provided by Arup, Curtins, and Ramboll.

The announcement follows the appointment of five leading architectural firms to the panel earlier this month.

Lend Lease project director Matt Beasley said the practices had been appointed for the commercial workplace element of the International Quarter, tasked with delivering up to 4 million ft2 of office space.

“The panel approach means the development team can match firms to individual plots and deliver concurrently,” he said.

The International Quarter has outline planning permission to be built on part of the Olympic park and will have some 350 homes and a hotel.

It is expected to be ready for occupation in late 2014 or early 2015.
