Tata Steel’s iconic Scunthorpe steelworks are set to be sold after the company agreed to sell its Long Products division, which employs 6,000 UK workers, to Geneva-based firm Klesch Group. As well as Scunthorpe, the sites affected by the deal include a plant in Teeside, Dalzell and Clydebridge in Scotland, as well as a workshop in Workington. Smaller sites in France and Germany are also included in the proposed deal, which has provoked the anger of UK trade unions.
