Ardmore has been awarded the first phase of the major redevelopment of Canada Water

Contractor Ardmore has won the £80m contract for the first phase of a major mixed-use development at Canada Water, Building understands.

The project - a joint venuture between Sellar Design and Developments and Notting Hill Housing - will see Ardmore construct a new flagship Decathlon store, as well as some of the planned 1,046 residential units for the site.

Demolition specialist Erith is already onsite at the Canada Water sites named C and E next to the underground station.

Further phases of the project will also see a cinema and health centre built along with 2,800 sqm of office space and 27,965 sqm of open space developed.

The project has been designed by architects Maccreanor Lavington, David Chipperfield, Claus Kaan and Vogt Landscaping.
