Mixed-use Mumbai scheme is architect's first project in India

Architect BDP has won a project in the heart of Bollywood, which is its first project in India.

BDP will design a 154,000sqm mixed-use scheme in Mumbai’s affluent film industry district, populated by Bollywood stars and other celebrities. The scheme for Indian developer Khubchandani features a luxury mall, gourmet restaurants, a viewing platform, a tree-lined boulevard, plus housing and offices. Sustainability will feature strongly, with the development aiming for a LEED (BREEAM international equivalent) platinum rating.

BDP director Adrian Price said: “This is an opportunity for BDP to create a stunning landmark development for India’s largest city. We will create a green oasis in Mumbai and establish a wonderful place to be for both the local population and visitors. Our sustainable and integrated approach will ensure the creation of a successful and memorable destination.”

BDP said the scheme could be completed as early as 2013.
