The architect of the £100m Welsh Millennium Centre (pictured), Percy Thomas Architects, was this week bought out of administration by Capita Symonds. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, was struck on Tuesday and cements Capita Symonds as one of the UK's top five architectural practices with 300 staff. Percy Thomas will now be called Capita Percy Thomas. Local sources said the firm, which had a turnover of £6m, had won some landmark contracts in recent years but had struggled to gain as much commercial work. One said: "They had quite a lot of debts. Picking up the flagship work doesn't pay the bills."
