Contractor's PPP win will be its fourth Canadian hospital project

Carillion has won a £144m PPP contract to develop and build a hospital extension in Ontario, Canada.

The company will work on the expansion of the Royal Victoria hospital in Barrie, Ontario. The project, which will add more than 400,000 sq ft to the hospital, carries a price tag of $258.5m (£144m).

The Royal Victoria is the fourth Canadian hospital project Carillion has worked on, after the New William Osler hospital in Toronto and the Royal Ottawa Hospital, which it built, and the Sault Area hospital, which is under construction.
