Boris Johson appoints leading architect to new Outer London Commission

Sir Terry Farrell has been appointed design czar to the outer London boroughs by the capital's mayor, Boris Johnson.

Farrell, whose name has long been linked with Johnson's administration, will give design advice to the new Outer London Commission (OLC).

Farrell: "London's outer boroughs… contain some of the most important drivers of London's future success"

The OLC has been set up to identify five London “growth hubs” in the outer suburbs, and to support their future development through the mayor's London Plan.

Farrell said: “London's outer boroughs cannot afford to be overlooked as they contain some of the most important drivers of London's future success.

“The successful development of outer London depends upon careful thought being given to design and planning issues, and Boris Johnson has shown that he takes those issues very seriously.”

The OLC is chaired by William McKee, a former director-general of the British Property Federation.
