Architect’s Fuglsang Kunstmuseum in Denmark given 3/1 odds by William Hill

Tony Fretton’s Fuglsang Kunstmuseum has emerged as an early favourite for the RIBA Stirling prize 2009 with odds of 3/1 from bookmaker William Hill.

The opening odds put Fretton ahead of Richard Rogers, whose two shortlisted buildings, the Bodegas Protos and Maggie’s Centre, are both at 4/1. BDP’s Liverpool One masterplan and Eric Parry Architects’ 5 Aldermanbury Square are at 9/2 while AHMM’s Kentish Town Health Centre is the outsider at 5/1.

Fretton should not take too much confidence from being the bookies’ favourite, however. In 2008, William Hill initially tipped AHMM’s Westminster Academy for the prize, which was eventually won by 5/1 outsider Accordia, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley.
