James Lighthill House Student Accommodation scheme provides 20 new student flats in North London

Architect Levitt Bernstein has designed a wave-shaped façade to allow light to penetrate a new student accommodation block in Islington, North London.

The James Lighthill development is in the grounds of an existing hall of residence on Penton Rise, Islington.

The three-storey scheme provides 20 student study rooms with shared dining/kitchen facilities on each level.

The scheme is sandwiched between a seven-storey existing student housing block and a boundary wall which forms the back of the new building.

Levitt Bernstein used the wave form on the elevation to maximise daylight to the rooms while maintaining privacy for the students.
