A concrete seating base has collapsed during the construction of the HKS-designed Texas Christian University football stadium

A bank of stadium seating designed by Liverpool FC stadium architect HKS has collapsed during mid-construction in Texas.

The concrete base beneath the seats, in the Texas Christian University football stadium in Fort Worth, collapsed at approx. 2am on 8 February. No-one was hurt.

The seats were part of a HKS-designed $13m athletic complex under construction in the Amon Carter Stadium.

Engineers and architects are currently examining the site to see how the collapse might have happened.

A TCU spokesperson said: “It's too early to know anything. It will be a thorough investigation."

Dallas-based HKS released scaled-back plans for Liverpool FC’s stadium last month after the original designs were deemed too expensive by the club’s owners.
