Mathematical Institute will be the main academic centre for 900 undergrads

Rafael Vinoly Architects has broken ground on a new academic building for Oxford University.

The Mathematical Institute which it is behind will be the main academic centre for 900 undergraduates and will provide space for 500 researchers and support staff.

The building on the former Radcliffe Infirmary site will include three theatres which will be used to host events and lectures.

Designs include a green roof and storm water runoff as part of a plan to get a BREEAM “excellent” rating. It will also include natural ventilation and feature 500 spaces for bikes
