The director general of the Federation of Master Builders has left the trade body after an ongoing dispute

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) today said Richard Diment had left the organisation after reaching agreement that “now is an appropriate time for Richard to pursue other interests”.

In a statement the FMB said that during his nearly five years as director general Diment had been an “effective advocate for members and the wider construction industry during very difficult economic times”.

In November Building reported that Diment had been placed “on leave” for an indeterminate period after a dispute had led to questions being raised about his performance as leader of the trade body.

It is understood that the dispute centred on issues concerning the organisation’s budget and tensions arising between the national office and the FMB’s regionally elected directors.
