Austrian architect Coop Himmelb(l)au unveils designs for 85m cantilevered roof structure

An innovative cinema has been unveiled in South Korea, featuring an 85m roof cantilever which acts as a “virtual sky”.

The development, which has received planning permission and is due to begin on site next month, has a 4,000-seat outdoor cinema and event space.

The four-screen “Cine Mountain” will also contain a 1,000-seat concert and cinema theatre.

A world-class restaurant is also contained within the form of the cantilevered steel structure roof.

Austrian architect Coop Himmelb(l)au who is behind the scheme said: “Our architectural aim to defy gravity reached a new turning point by designing one of the biggest roof cantilevers in our design history which actually never touches the ground – the connection emerges only by the rise of the landscape.”
