Burt Hill makes close to 50 redundancies among staff on delayed UAE projects

US architect firm Burt Hill made nearly 50 people redundant last Thursday, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.

The firm laid off people from its Pittsburgh-based branch as a result of major works being put on hold in Dubai, the paper reported.

The Pittsburgh branch was set up a few years ago to help support new projects being designed by the firm, mostly in Dubai.

This is the second round of job cuts at the architecture practice in the past two months. The most recent cut represents 5% of the firm's 1,194 employees and includes architects, support staff, creative services personnel and engineers.
